Bob Burton (aka “Burt” – “Richard Weirich”) programmed his first radio station in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1971.  In 1972 he took over the PD job at WIST in Charlotte, North Carolina.  George Williams, national program director for Southern Broadcasting hired Burt in 1973 as the program director of WSGN in Birmingham where the morning personality was Rick Dees and the Music Director was Bill Thomas (PD, Manager, Consultant).  Then in 1974 Burt replaced Bill Tanner (Y100, Miami) as program director of WJDX in Jackson, Mississippi which led to several national programming awards and unparalleled ratings.  In 1979 Burt was named PD at WLCY in Tampa, FL.  In the years that followed Burt elected to step aside from programming working with Kurt as a morning radio personality.  Again in 2002 Burt returned to his programming roots taking on several projects for Crawford Broadcasting until his departure from radio in 2008.

Through the years Bob Burton developed a passion for music programming that, even in retirement, requires an outlet.  Golden Hits Radio, an internet only station, is a “just for fun” labor of love.  The music selected for GHR comes from the beginnings of Rock and Roll in the mid 50s and encompasses the classic music and superstars from the 60s and 70s.

Richard has taught and directed many aspiring radio personalities and voice actors who have gone on to enjoy rewarding professional careers.  Today,  he continues to use his unique abilities and proven methods to teach, challenge, motivate, and encourage through private instruction and seminars.
